A Comprehensive Business Solution for WISPs

We developed the WISP/manage software to address the business management needs of both small and large WISPs. The software is a comprehensive business system with a broad functionality. The WISP/manage software interfaces with Fire4 and 3rd party network components to gather data at the node level and manage a distributed access authentication service for network users.

WISPs can monitor the statistics of network use, and the node and location levels, to ensure that the equipment is producing expected revenues. If revenues are below par then the WISP can swap the equipment to a site or location where the revenues will improve. The network hardware can be constantly monitored and any failure of a link or equipment reported immediately to a service technician or dispatcher via SMS messaging.

The WISP can commercialize Internet access through selling access codes, scratch cards or through on-line credit card billing via PayPal®. The WISP can also create a subscription service for frequent users. Each WISP will download wireless network usage and billing information as a comma separated file that can be loaded into a book keeping or accounting program. The WISP can adjust pricing by node or by site and have banner advertising specific to each node.

Non-WISPs can provide free Internet access using the disclaimer page option and still generate an income by installing advertising banners and selling banner space to businesses that want to communicate with the wireless Internet users.
